Please reach us at hello@kaizentherapy.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Absolutely not! We offer different rates in order to make therapy more accessible regardless of your financial situation. Our therapists are all qualified and will offer the same level of care for every rate!
Most likely, yes! Check with your insurance provider to ensure they cover “psychotherapy.” All our therapists are Registered Psychotherapists, licensed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Rarely, some insurance providers may not approve therapists in "Qualifying" status. If that's the case, just let your therapist know, and we can provide a receipt with our supervisor's name, which should resolve the issue.
Supervisors are therapists with many years of experience who oversee a therapist's cases. Therapists will generally meet with their supervisor once a week to discuss specific cases, get additional training, and receive professional support. All psychotherapists operating in the province of Ontario require a supervisor until they have gained a significant amount of experience. However, many therapists continue to receive supervision for many years to ensure they remain knowledgeable and can provide the best quality therapy to their clients. Of course, confidentiality is always respected (and legally required!)
Unfortunately, no. Hopefully one day that will be the case, but at this time provincial health plans only cover hospital programs or psychiatry.
This answer can vary!
Weekly sessions may be recommended at the beginning. On average, it can take 3 to 4 sessions before trust and rapport are built between you and your therapist. So, weekly sessions can be helpful to get you to the "Action" phase of therapy quicker. If your symptoms are more severe or are interfering with your day-to-day life, weekly sessions will likely be recommended.
Bi-weekly sessions are the most common once you enter the "Action" phase of therapy, as it provides you adequate time to put the skills you're learning into practice.
If you're doing well or in the “Maintenance” phase of therapy, your therapist may recommend switching to sessions every 3 or 4 weeks, as more frequent sessions may not be necessary.
However, the choice is always yours! You might enjoy the consistency of weekly or bi-weekly sessions, and that is okay!
50 minutes is generally seen as the ideal amount of time for a therapy session, as it is usually enough time to cover the major events since your last session, but not so long you run out of things to talk about!
50 minutes may seem like an odd number, but it typically takes around 10 minutes to record notes and update your file after a session, which ends up being an hour.
We can offer longer sessions or even shorter sessions depending on your needs!
For couples therapy, we typically recommend 75 minutes to ensure both partners have ample time to speak and share in session. Certain interventions may also recommend longer sessions, as they may be more time-consuming than a usual session.
Not at this time. However, stay tuned!
