Working with a student therapist
- Student interns are registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, just like our other therapists.
- These students receive weekly supervision from experienced senior therapists, ensuring they receive more support, more oversight, and fresh training in evidence-based techniques.

FAQs
What does "Pay-What-You-Can" actually mean?
Our pay-what-you-can program is exactly as it sounds, but with a floor and a ceiling. You can choose your rate between $35 and $95. This price is locked in until your therapist completes their internship. At which point, your therapist will offer alternative rates to continue your work together and/or you can decide to transfer to a different intern to maintain your current rate. You can read more about it by visiting our latest article.
How do I decide what to pay?
We ask that you reflect on your current financial situation and choose a rate that is within your means. If you can comfortably afford $60 for example, we ask that you choose that rate. Ideally, we want to ensure the program remains sustainable and part of that is relying on clients to choose a price that fits their actual financial situation. We will never ask for proof or question your rate, so there is zero pressure one way or another.
Are these services covered by insurance?
Yes! As long as your insurance covers "psychotherapy" you should have no issue getting reimbursement from your insurance provider. If required, we can also include the name of the therapist's supervisor on receipts, as that can help ensure your claim is accepted.
How do I pay for sessions?
To help ensure this program runs efficiently, we only accept credit card / visa debit payments for our pay-what-you-can program. Once you have paid, you will be provided a receipt that you can submit to your insurance if applicable.
Can I change my rate?
Yes. However we do ask that you select a price that works for you at the outset to avoid constant changes. If you need to change your price (lower or higher) simply let your therapist know, and they will confirm the change with the clinic director, who will then lock you into the new price.
