Fees and Rates
- Our therapists all charge different rates based on their experience and credentials. This means our rates for our Senior Therapists range from $130 to $175. Below is the general outline of how we decide our rates for each therapist:
- Recent Graduate, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying): $130
- Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a year of experience: $150
- Registered Psychotherapist with specialized training and notable experience: $175
- All our therapists may offer sliding scale rates as well.
We also offer a pay-what-you-can program. We hire Intern Therapists who are in the final stages of their Graduate Studies. These therapists are supervised by Supervisors who are Registered Psychotherapists or Psychologists who have at least 5 years post-graduate experience.
- Our pay-what-you can program offers sessions on a choose-your-pricing scale of $35 to $95. Beginning Sept 1, the price range will increase to $40 to $100.
- Therapist to Therapist Consultation: $85
- Late Cancellation (<24 hours notice): 50% of your rate
- No-Show: Full Fee
- Pay-What-You-Can & Pro-Bono Late Cancellation or No-Show Fee: $35
- Notes: $40
- Letters or Reports: Charged at your therapist’s rate in 15 minute increments (Therapist Rate ÷ 4)
Insurance
Kaizen Therapy does not currently offer direct billing for insurance claims.
We are looking into adding this as a feature in the future. However, until then, clients are responsible for ensuring their insurance covers “Psychotherapy.” For questions on whether your specific therapist will be covered, you will need to consult with your insurance provider.
Some ways we help facilitate this process is many of our staff include their supervisors on their receipts, which allows you to claim sessions under the supervisor rather than your therapist. This typically bypasses any issues with your therapist being “Qualifying” or an intern. We can also contact your insurance provider if they require additional information from us.
These are some of the insurance providers our clients have had little to no issue submitting their claims:
- CanadaLife
- Manulife
- Sunlife
- Blue Cross
- Desjardins
- Telus Health
Please note that your specific insurance policy is what will determine your eligibility for reimbursement as some employers may not offer therapy benefits.
