Learn about our Practicum Program to see if we're the right fit for you
Accepting students beginning in January 2027
The Role
As an Intern Therapist, you will be exposed to a variety of different clients through our virtual therapy platform (JaneApp). You will work with issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotion regulation, and more. You will also be encouraged to find your “niche” (Who is your ideal client you’d like to work with?). You will be supported by your Site Contact, our team, and our network of supervisors.
What We Offer
- Regular workshops covering therapy skills, best practices, different modalities, client issues.
- Access to Peer Consultation to talk about challenges, practicum, or navigating life as a therapist.
- Free access to our library of resources
- Monthly Group Supervision (This does not count toward Yorkville’s Supervision requirements, but will count toward CRPO hours).
- An honorarium upon completion of your practicum
- A job offer with Kaizen Therapy after graduation
- Flexible schedule! You decide your hours!
- 2 weeks vacation (dependent on your accumulated hours and school approval)
- Most importantly, a track record of providing students with the required hours to graduate on time.
What We Expect From You
- You will be required to find and pay for an External Supervisor for your weekly Individual Supervision requirements. However, we can connect you with supervisors who are actively working with practicum students and offer student rates.
- On a case-by-case basis, we can offer financial aid for supervision costs if you are facing severe financial difficulties. However, we expect your honorarium will recoup a majority of these costs upon graduation.
- At least 15 hours of availability a week (This does not mean 15 clients a week, just availability that clients can choose from).
- You will be required to fill out a weekly hours form keeping track of all your direct and indirect hours each week.
- You will be expected to be continuously engaging in learning opportunities (our provided workshops, individual reading and research, and if possible continuing education courses such as through PESI).
- With the new CRPO rules, we will ask you to apply for Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at the soonest opportunity. January 2027 students, should in theory be able to register as RP (Qualifying) ahead of the rule changes. Beyond January 2027, you will be asked to apply once you hit the required hours. If you will not be able to register as an RP ahead of Practicum, it is mandatory that your supervisor be an approved RP supervisor and that you meet with them weekly at a minimum.
- For RP (Qualifying) students, you will be required to get and maintain professional liability insurance. For non-RP students, more information on liability insurance requirements will be posted at a later date.
